Does anyone use generic or no-name brands on grocery items and food?  Our family uses them quite often and find that there is not too much of a difference in many things.

Are there any branded food that you absolutely will NOT compromise on?

I like to use generic foods if they're going to be an ingredient in something else or if the name brand of an item seems outrageously expensive.

I generally don't mind generic paper towels and napkins. I don't use the tissues. They don't seem as soft as the national brands.

Toilet paper!!!!  I am definitely brand loyal on this issue.  The good thing for me is that I can usually find a coupon and the store I shop at often has sales!

Now that I think about it, I'm really not too brand loyal on anything any more.  It used to be mayonaise - had to be Hellmans - but I really don't eat mayonaise anymore.  I used to get only heinz ketchup, but now I've found an organic one that is great.

I am picky about toilet paper, but am okay with a few different brands.

Yes, we use store brands whenever possible. We have a Meijer in the area and their store brands are actually quite good. The only things I won't buy generic on are tolietries like soap and toliet paper.

I agree, I refuse to compromise on toilet paper and kleenexs.
But everything else, generic.  Except for peanut butter.

Really, peanut butter? I used to insist on Jif but after experimenting I found that a certain store brand is just fine for my family!

I've found that if you buy the generic type and that is all there is to eat in the house, by the time they get to the bottom of the jar, it tastes just fine to them. Smiley

I was wondering if anyone buy the Malt o Meal cereals?  I like them, and love it when they go on sale because our paper carries coupons every so often and I buy them at a double your coupons store so I get one of those big bags of cereal for about $1.50.

I'm picky about toilet paper and cream cheese (generic brand just cannot compare to Philadelphia), but for anything else, I'm fine with generic/store brands.

I'm with you on the cream cheese, but I buy generic anyways and just eat my bagels quickly. LOL!
