Labor day is just around the corner and that means great deals at the grocery store.  Be on the look out for HUGE sales on hotdogs and soft drinks.  They use these deals to get you in the door.

Really?  Well, I didn't knew/thought that labor day would bring in such discounts...I'm even a bit skeptical that my stores here will do anything special  Undecided

Oh yes... all sorts of picnic type food will be on sale.  I'm not one to buy pre-made burger patties, but last year, they had this super sale on packs of turkey burgers and I stocked up.  We have a box freezer and I bought about 12 packs of turkey burgers at less than half price.  I saved over $90.00 and used the meat as burgers, in chili, for tacos, and other casseroles throughout the year.

Having a large freeze can be a great money saver.  Unfortunately I don't have that luxury (small house - no room).  I hope it can be remedied in the near future.

I hadn't thought about using patties for chili and what not.  That's a great tip.  I usually make patties out of the discounted ground beef, but I never made too many because I know we don't eat that many burgers.  That will change for next time.  I'll make patties and then defrost whatever amount I need for what ever project I'm doing.  I guess patties would be the best way of freezing ground beef for future use.

Thanks.

DOn't know why I never really paid attention to the labor day sales.  I've done this on other holiday weeks, but will put what you've suggested to use! THanks.

My dad told me that a grocery store person he knows told him about it and that things like hotdogs are practically given away.  Be saving those hotdog coupons and you may just get them for free!

You should watch rebates as well.  This weekend at our local market, you can get 4 12 packs of Coke FREE after rebate.  You can't go wrong with free!

Don't forget unusual places to shop for items.  CVS pharmacy has a great deal on chips and tissue this week - plus I have a $2 off coupon becauce I'm a reward member.

I haven't found the rebate off, yet.  But over the last holiday weekend they had sodas priced at 5 - 12 packs for $10.  That's not too bad.
