Twiggy epitomised the look: pale face, sleek hair and heavily made-up eyes. You can take it to Mod extremes - with black-and-white eyeshadow - or blend fresh summer pastels.

* Use concealor only where needed and blend it in well. If you use foundation, make sure that it is pale - the face should look frsh and young.

* Eyebrows should be softly coloured and the arches accentuated with a soft brown pencil or powder. Let the brows taper to a narrow end.

* Eyelids are where you can really have fun. A soft, light colour over the lid is ideal, then apply a darker colour on the socket line, sweeping a little under the lower lashes as well.

* Use black liquid eyeliner on the lids, staying as close to the lash line as possible.

* Lips must be very pale. Pat some foundation on them to neutralise them.

* Apply a light touch of blush on the apple of the cheek for a natural glow.
